Manassas Plumber, My Plumber, Heating & Cooling recently announced a hands on Plumbing Certification Course for its apprentice employees. Classes are being held at their Manassas, Virginia facility.
The first class began on September 3, 2013.This thirty week certification course calls for another class to begin in the spring of 2014.
“We are ecstatic to be able to offer this opportunity to up and coming plumbing professionals,” said Wendell Presgrave, who is the Owner and President of My Plumber, Heating & Cooling. “There is a definite shortage of plumbers, not just in the Metro area, but nationwide. We are glad to help prepare individuals with this fantastic career opportunity. Our Apprentice Plumbers are part of our “Earn to Learn” program, so they are paid while they are learning!”
Presgrave called the training “a super opportunity for young people, displaced workers and anyone who wishes to expand his or her career opportunities.”
The comprehensive course is one that encompasses hands on plumbing techniques and “ride-alongs” with certified plumbers currently working at My Plumber, Heating & Cooling. A simulated two story housing frame was built in one of the company’s warehouse buildings so that the students will be able to install plumbing from start to finish. They will also repair created problems by performing hands on remedies. Intensive teacher student interaction will be a strong benefit in producing top plumbing professionals.
Instructor, James Hurt who previously taught Industrial Arts within the Fairfax County school system had this to say: “It is a gift to teach such talented up and coming Plumbers everything that they will need to become very successful within their field.”
