Virginia-based My
Plumber Heating and Cooling donated 200 wreaths to National Wreaths Across America
Day. DC Area Company My Plumber Heating and Cooling donated 200 wreaths
to be laid on fallen soldiers’ grave sites at Arlington National
Cemetery for National Wreaths Across America Day.
“We are pleased to be able to honor our veterans, and we hope to
encourage others to do so as well.” said Mark Presgrave of My Plumber
Heating and Cooling. “It’s amazing to know that this small
gesture can go such a long way in keeping the memory of our veterans alive.”
Wreaths Across America focuses on remembering our fallen veterans, honoring
those who serve and teaching children the value of freedom. During National
Wreaths Across America Day, wreath-laying ceremonies take place at Arlington
National Cemetery as well as 1228 other locations throughout the United
States. This special event brings people of all ages and all walks of
life together so that they may express gratitude for the past, present
and future sacrifices of our veterans and their families.
This year’s event took place on December 17th. Over 1.2 million wreaths
were placed on gravesites throughout the U.S., including a special wreath
in honor of the 93,852 United States Servicemen and Women whose last known
status was either Prisoner of War or Missing in Action. 245,000 wreaths
were placed by more than 44,000 volunteers at Arlington National Cemetery.
National Wreaths Across America Day is an opportunity to celebrate the
life and service of our veterans. In order to preserve the memory of fallen
soldiers, volunteers at this year’s event were encouraged to say
each veteran’s name aloud and thank them for their service.
This was the 25th year that wreaths have been placed at Arlington National
Cemetery. Next year’s event will take place on December 16th, 2017.
